01Home
Welcome to PROGRESUL DENDROLOGIC
Trees are among the oldest and most generous neighbours a town can have. They shade streets in summer, hold soil in place, filter the air, give shelter to birds and insects, and mark the passing of seasons and generations. Yet they are often noticed only when they are gone.
Our organization takes its name from dendrology, the study of trees and woody plants. We believe that knowledge about trees should not stay in textbooks. When people understand how a tree grows, what harms it and what helps it, they begin to see parks, courtyards and roadside plantings differently, and to take part in looking after them.
We aim to connect people with nature through education, practical environmental initiatives and cooperation with the community, starting here in Bălți.

Why it matters locally
Towns in Moldova face hotter summers, heavy rains and pressure on public land. Well-cared-for trees reduce heat, absorb rainwater and make streets healthier places to live. Environmental education helps prevent avoidable damage, such as harmful pruning or injured roots, and encourages people to treat shared green spaces as their own.
